Self-Storage in Chula Vista, CA
Chula Vista Self Storage
Self Storage in Chula Vista, California
If you are new to Chula Vista, you are probably surprised to hear that it’s the second largest city in San Diego and the seventh largest city in Southern California. What does that mean? For us storage nerds that means lots of self storage in Chula Vista! Lucky for you, you can find affordable storage in Chula Vista because there is enough storage facilities to meet the demands of Chula Vista’s growing population.
Chula Vista self storage has a few unique qualities. First, there is an Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista next to the Lower Otay Reservoir. The center accommodates many sports including beach volleyball, BMX, rugby and much more. Many athletes train here and receive food and lodging compliments of the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center (CVOTC). Do you think these athletes may need temporary storage while staying in Chula Vista? You bet! The CVOTC likely has sufficient land to satisfy their storage needs, although it’s quite possible they rent a few storage units in Chula Vista as well.
Forbes named Chula Vista as one of America’s most boring cities in 2009, but we couldn’t disagree more, and we happen to know what Chula Vista residents store in their storage units! For starters, Chula Vista is very business friendly, so there is a strong small business presence. Many of these businesses use self storage in Chula Vista for extra inventory, files, office furniture or uniforms. Chula Vista also loves their sports. The Chula Vista Little League Team even won the World Series in 2009. Since all roads lead to self storage, what this means to us is that a lot of residents store sporting equipment and outdoor gear like quads and tents. Pearl Jam’s drummer Matt Cameron also heralds from Chula Vista. Assuming he had one we’re sure his Chula Vista storage unit was pretty rad. Chula Vista also has a large military presence, and there’s nothing cooler than serving one’s country. Lastly, Chula Vista is only a few miles from the Mexico border, so Chula Vista self storage houses a lot of mementos from fun trips across the border. Can you ever own enough sombreros? We love Chula Vista!
Chula Vista, CA Military Storage
Chula Vista has a strong military presence given its proximity to numerous San Diego military bases. There is a Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar as well as a Base Camp in Pendleton (Camp Pendleton). San Diego is also home for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot which provides initial training for over 21,000 recruits west of the Mississippi. This already sounds like a large military presence, yet we haven’t even gotten to the Navy yet!
There is a Naval Base in Coronado, with over 12,000 working or studying on base. That requires a lot of military storage units! Naval Base Coronado is also the base for SEAL teams when they are on the west coast and two aircraft carriers are stationed there as well. Then there is the Naval Base in Point Loma and the US Navy’s largest west coast base in San Diego proper. It is home to 54 ships and has a population of nearly 30,000 on base.
All in all, San Diego has nearly 75,000 military members or civilians living on or near a base. That seriously changes the demand for self storage. In the Navy for instance, it’s common to have a three-year deployment on a ship or submarine, followed by three years on shore. Although Sailors return for period of time during their deployment, you can imagine instances where utilizing a storage unit may make more sense than maintaining a full-size residence a military member only uses for short periods of time during their deployment. Military members can find great storage deals in Chula Vista, which is only a short distance from their bases. On top of great deals, military members will also receive a military discount at many Chula Vista storage facilities. Storage Outlet would certainly be glad to have your business and thank you in person for your heroic service.
Chula Vista, CA University Storage
Not only does Chula Vista have a large military presence, it also has a lot of students given the great number of colleges in San Diego County! Southwestern College is smack dab in Chula Vista and has 19,000 students. Many of these students are moving from other areas and will need affordable storage units in Chula Vista. Others live at home and can likely get away with storing their belongings with mom and dad for the time being. Southwestern also has an older average age than many schools, and therefore many students already have their own housing and won’t need a storage unit (at least not because they just moved into a dorm – they still may need self storage because their cupboards and closets are busting at the seams).
The San Diego Centers for Education and Technology is also just outside Chula Vista, in the city of San Diego (as the name implies). This college is also known as the Cesar E. Chavez Campus for San Diego Continuing Education. As a continuing education location, many of these students will already have residences and therefore do not represent the typical university student with lots of stuff but only a shoebox of a room to store it in.
There are many more universities in San Diego: San Diego City College, Point Loma Nazarene University, University of San Diego (USD), University of California San Diego (UCSD), San Diego Mesa College, and Cuyamaca College just to name a handful. Although these campuses are 10-20 miles from Chula Vista, many students may find that Chula Vista has the best self storage deals since property values are lower in Chula Vista than in downtown San Diego or La Jolla. San Diego traffic is not as dense as Los Angeles, so many San Diego residents are willing to drive a little farther to get the best price for a storage unit. This is especially true if you’re a college student because every penny counts!
